「4年契約ですが、その間に日米から監督のオファーがあれば自分で決められるようになっている。ESPNからいい条件を提示されたが、それより低い金額でも日本からオファーがあれば、そちらを選ぶ気持ちはある」Which translates to:
"It's a four year contract, but if I should get an offer to manage a team in Japan or the Majors, it's up to my discretion. I'm getting very good compensation from ESPN, but even if a lower offer were to come from Japan, I feel that I'd take it."It sounds to me like he would be much more willing to take an NPB managing job, even at a lower offer than ESPN, than return to the Mets, or any MLB team for that matter. Does that infer that an MLB team will have to out-bid ESPN?
This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
