Kawakami No-Hits Giants

Kawakami No-Hits Giants
Chunichi's Kenshin Kawakami threw a no-hit shut-out against the mighty first place Giants in front of 55,000 at Tokyo Dome last night (August 1).

The only base runner for the Giants was Takayuki Shimizu, who led off the bottom of the fourth with a walk, but was stranded there. Hideki Matsui went 0 for 3, striking out all three plate appearances.

This was the first no-hitter thrown since Narciso Elvira threw one against Kintetsu on June 20, 2000 against Seibu. The last time the Giants fell victim to a no-hitter was August 11, 1996 at the hands of Chunichi's Shigeki Noguchi.

He almost did it again! Too bad the Marines broke it up in the ninth.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
