Kimura calls it quits

by John E. Gibson (Nov 10, 2009)

Takuya Kimura, the Giants' 37-year-old utility player, announced his retirement after the Series' victory.

Kimura, who was drafted by Nippon Ham in 1991 and went to Hiroshima in 1995, batted a career-high .293 in 2008. He collected 1,049 hits in 1.523 games.

"After winning it all, I have both feelings of happiness and relief," Kimura said at a press conference after the game.

Kimura is expected to stay on with the Giants as a coach.
