Nomura with Nankai
Here in Baltimore, the arrival of Kris Benson and his - colorful - wife got us talking about athletes with outspoken or controversial wives. Naturally, I brought up Katsuya Nomura and his wife. While I was reasonably well acquainted with her more recent antics (the tax evasion arrest that led to his "resignation" from Hanshin), I don't know much about how she caused him to lose his job with Nankai in the 1970s. The only thing I could find surveying the usual English language sources on the web was that she was "interfering" with him running the team. Does anyone have any more information?
