Yukio Tanaka will be the next 2,000 hits veteran player. And last season Atsuya Furuta and Kenji Nomura each reach their 2,000th hits record.

Tanaka has 1,967 hits (which is 33 away from 2,000). He's a free agent for the Fighters this year. I wonder if the Fighters have brought him back yet? [See Also]

Also, BayStars infielder Takuro Ishii is 39 hits shy of 2,000 (at 1,961). Ishii re-signed with the BayStars with a one year deal worth 175 million (1.75-oku) yen. [News Article - Japan Ball]
