Jong-Soo Shim Becomes Free Agent
Hyundai outfielder Jong-Soo Shim has become a free agent. The Korean outfielder said he will try to pursue a career in the majors. Numerous major league teams have expressed interest in Shim according to his agent John Kim. Shim batted .307 (4 for 13) with a HR and 3 RBI in spring training with the Marlins in 2003. Shim signed with the Samsung Lions. Shim got a 4 year contract worth 6 million won ($5,700,000). [Link - Korea Times]

Two days of flirting with MLB, he and Seung-Yeop Lee basically mentioned interest in coming to MLB so they could get a higher contract value in Korea/Japan.
