Ryu Called Up By Cubs

Ryu Called Up By Cubs
Pitcher Jae Kyu Ryu was called up by the Chicago Cubs to replace pitcher Angel Guzman who was optioned back to AAA Iowa. [MLB Press Release] Ryu went 1-3 with a 3.21 ERA in 7 starts. He has limited batters to a .222 average, and lefties to a .213 clip.

Ryu led the Southern League in IPs (169), was 4th in Ks (133) and 7th in ERA (3.34) last year.

Ryu was optioned back to AAA Iowa, with the Cubs activating starting pitcher Kerry Wood off the 15-Day DL.
