Steroid Use and Power Hitting

Discussion in the Rumor Mill forum
Steroid Use and Power Hitting
Steroid use in MLB is pretty obvious. The proposed testing is "laughable" and basically worthless. However, last year it was apparent that many MLB players went off the "juice" and were a lot smaller i.e. Sammy Sosa. Ted Robinson, announcer for the New York Mets, made reference to this fact many times. I feel that many more MLB players will now go off steroids and the power production of MLB will go down. What will Barry Bonds look like?

I also thought that the Cabrera/Petagine and power hitting discussion was interesting, and I was wondering if there was ever a discussion of steroid use in Professional Baseball (Pro Yakyu) in Japan?

Also, as a side note, lots of respect and admiration for Hideki Matsui. He went to the largest, toughest baseball market in America and did very well. There were no other Japanese players on the team for him to "learn" from. I cannot even imagine the amount of pressure that he faced from both the Japanese and New York media.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
