Leon Lee - Mariners Hitting Coach Candidate

Leon Lee - Mariners Hitting Coach Candidate
Bob Finnigan reported in the October 23, 2003 Seattle Times that Leon Lee is on the short list of contenders for the Seattle Mariners' hiiting coach position. Other candidates are Hal McRae, Don Long, Dwayne Murphy, and Chili Davis.

Lee managed the Orix Blue Wave in 2003. Leon and his brother Leron were stars in Japan in the 1970s and 80s. Lee is also the father of the Florida Marlins' Derrick Lee. Dwayne Murphy also played in Japan.

The choice of either Lee or Murphy might be an indication of the Seattle Mariner's seriousness of adding the Seibu Lions' Kazuo Matsui and committment to Ichiro.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
