Nakamura Close to Signing with Orix

Nakamura Close to Signing with Orix
The Mainichi Daily News reported that an Orix Buffaloes' team official said that Norihiro Nakamura will sign with Orix for 2006. The 32-year-old was with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Dodgers' minor league system for 2005 after spending his career with the Kintetsu Buffaloes.

It's also mentioned that Kazuhiro Kiyohara has already announced that he will play for the Buffaloes this coming season.

It should be a good move for Orix if they can sign Nakamura. So far they've signed Kiyohara, Grabowski, and Davey. Not a bad start so far for Orix.

Interestingly Nakamura and Kiyohara put up similar numbers last year. But a CL .750 OPS player in a power position (1B/DH) and a AAA .800 OPS player in another power position (3B/DH) won't make Orix a great team, but they might still be better than all Orix hitters save Shiozaki. How could a team that picked the best players out of two (admittedly bad) teams have been that bad?
