Uehara to Go to the Majors

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum

33 year old Uehara who, was a starter in game 1 and game 5 in the Japan Series, and who was taken off the roster in Game 7, will file for free agency and pursue a career in the Majors next season. Uehara has 112 wins 62 losses for the Giants. Uehara won 20 wins in 1999. He said that he wishes to end his career in MLB.

I say not, I think he'll be more of a relief type in MLB. After being moved around these last few years between bullpen and rotation, I think a MLB team will sign him as a middle man or a possible set up role. At that I think he could flourish since the lineup would see him maybe 1-2 times at most.

With Igawa, the Yankees were just throwing money away after losing out on Matsuzaka. They should have thought it threw twice and let a NL team get Igawa.
