Dodgers Sign Ishibashi

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
Dodgers Sign Ishibashi
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed catcher Fumimasa Ishibashi to a minor league contract.

Fumimasa, is 24 years old, speaks limited English, and played in the independent Frontier League last year. I can't find any kind of stats for him though.

I've been very impressed by MLB teams this off-season and by how they have gone after Japanese players out of high school/college or out of the independent leagues. This would be the third Japanese signing for the Dodgers this off-season along with Hiroki Kuroda and Robert Boothe.

I actually used to be really good friends with this guy. And his English isn't limited. I don't know where you got that info from, but his English is really good, far from limited.

But anyways, he's a really good player with a rocket arm and I wish him the best.
