Where is he now? John Wasdin

Where is he now? John Wasdin
Former Giant John "Way Back" Wasdin just pitched for the Texas Rangers against the pathetic offense of the Mariners. The Mariners' offense, however, did come out on top thanks to Boone and Ichiro. A guy who ended up with a 4.50+ ERA in Japan cracked his way into the low-level starting rotation of the Texas Rangers. Good luck to him.

On another note, isn't former Giant Elmer Dessens also on the starting rotation of some team?

Dessens is with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Elmer Dessens was dropped from the starting rotation of the D-backs over a month ago, but he's pitched well in middle relief. He actually faced his old Yomiuri teammate Hideki Matsui last month when the Yanks played the D-backs in Arizona. Dessens has pitched so well in middle relief that the D-backs are considering returning him to the starting rotation soon.

The D-backs also have former Chunichi Dragon Scott Service in their bullpen.

Another former Yomiuri Giant, Jose Parra, is now pitching for the NY Mets.

From Taiwan to the Major League in a year, Jose Parra is amazing.

Does anyone know where John Wasdin got his less than flattering nickname? Even on SportsCenter they refer to him as John "Way Back" Wasdin like it's officially his middle name.

This could be just a myth, but supposedly once, when he was about to be removed from a game, he tried to convince the manager to let him continue by saying, "But I'm not tired," to which the manager replied, "Yeah, but your outfielders sure are."

"Way Back" refers to the home run call of Red Sox announcer Jerry Trupiano. Too many "Way Back"'s when Wasdin was on the mound in Boston. The name stuck and then followed him to Asia!
