NPB vs. MLB Basepath Distances

NPB vs. MLB Basepath Distances
I got into a dispute with a friend of mine last night over drinks about whether or not there is any difference in the distance between bases in MLB versus NPB. Everyone in the bar claims that the distance is the same for both leagues. I swear I read something once that said otherwise. Who's right?

A quick Google shows that the Osaka Nikkan Sports site [in Japanese] has the distance between bases for Pro Yakyu as 27.43 meters. Move the decimal point over to get 2,743 cm, divided by 2.54 cm per inch converts to approximately 1,080 inches, which is 90 feet (after dividing by 12 inches per foot).

If you assume that Nikkan Sports is a trustworthy source, then it can be concluded that the distances are the same.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
