Kaz

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
Kaz "Kountdown"
Here's a Reuters story on Yahoo on Kazuo Matsui's final prep for MLB. [Link]

There's a quote from Bob Whiting, who posts here.

What is the buzz and expectation for Kaz right now? There's not much over here on Kaz. Many fans are still angry the Mets didn't try harder for Vladimir Guererro. I agree with the Mets that his disk injury was a risk for a long term contract. Unfortunately, I think Kaz, Piazza, and Floyd are going to need more hitting support if the Mets will do better than .500.

Nevertheless, I am very much looking forward to seeing Kaz play.

Kaz is currently working out with his former Japanese team - Seibu Lions. The Mets do not open camp until Febuary.

The Met fans are unhappy because one of their weaknesses was right field. Vladimir Guerrero was available despite the risk, but instead they signed Garcia. Shortstop was not a weakness because they had Reyes. But I guess they could not pass up Matsui. And some Met fans are skeptical of his skills.

There has been a fair amount of ignorant banter on the Mets message boards about Kaz. The skeptics will be silenced shortly.
