Yanks vs. BoSox in China and Japan, 2008

Yanks vs. BoSox in China and Japan, 2008
Interesting tidbit in tomorrow's (May 5) New York Times. Rather than paraphrase, I'll quote the majority of the article (entire story can be seen at New York Times Sports):
Major League Baseball is in preliminary negotiations with several teams, including the Yankees and Red Sox, about playing exhibition games in China next March and opening the regular season in Japan, according to several individuals briefed on the negotiations.

Although other teams are involved, baseball would prefer the Yankees and the Red Sox, who have the league's most contentious rivalry and would conceivably feature four Japanese players, to open the season in Asia. The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres are believed to be two other choices.

"We are talking to a number of different clubs about a number of different possibilities," Patrick Courtney, a spokesman for Major League Baseball, said in a telephone interview. Courtney said that the plans were in the preliminary stages and he did not want to comment further.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
