Berroa Wins AL ROY

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
Berroa Wins AL ROY
Angel Berroa was just named AL ROY over Matsui-san [Link - Yahoo News]. A look at the stats shows very comparable performance. It was a close one. The above link discusses the results.

ROY or not, Matsui-san had a great first year with the Yankees and will only get better. Of all the Japanese players who went to MLB, I think Matsui-san had the toughest task, as a position player and in dealing with the hype, pressure, and expectations of playing in New York. Hats off the Matsui-san.

It is good that Berroa won, but what were these two writers thinking not including Berroa in their ballots?

At least one of the guys who did not vote for Matsui had his reason.
