Just like old times
The Seattle Mariners' Ichiro Suzuki backs away from an inside pitch in his highly anticipated first at-bat to lead off the game against the Boston Red Sox's Daisuke Matsuzaka on Wednesday night at Boston's Fenway Park. Matsuzaka got the best of the matchup, holding Suzuki hitless in four at-bats with a strikeout, but was dealt his first major league loss when the Mariners won the game 3-0.

But the clear Japanese winner in that game was Kenji Johjima who went 2-for-3 including a double as well as catching Felix Hernandez's one hitter.

Johjima's on fire. I was at Friday night's game, and he also hit a double off Akinori Otsuka.

I think Johjima's goal for the year should be to get a double off every Japanese pitcher in the AL!

(Hmm.. at this point that'd be Igawa, Matsuzaka, Ohka, Okajima, and Otsuka... 2/5 down so far!)
