Popularity in Japan
Having just returned from a trip to Japan, this is what I noticed.

The number one story seems to be the Hanshin Tigers. The combination of young players and the pitching of Irabu have put them way ahead of everybody else. They started counting down their Magic Number from around 50.

Since I was in Kobe most of the time, the coverage of MLB was slightly biased toward Ichiro. Once I went to Tokyo I noticed that Matsui got a greater amount of media coverage.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
