Not just in Seattle. You should have heard some of the scouting reports made on Matsui by people who had never seen him play. They claimed that he was a bad outfielder. Also, people still make a big deal about Alfonso Soriano playing baseball for Hiroshima Carp. What did he play - less than 10 games in one season? Also, people are so quick to put down all of Japanese baseball because former minor leaguers like Tuffy Rhodes and Cabrera are doing so well there.

It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. FoxSportsNW Mariner analyst Bill Kruger (ex-Mariner) took a giant step backward on a segment on Ichiro on April 1, 2003. Kruger said that he was amazed with Ichiro's performance because (Kruger's analysis):
(1) Ichiro comes from a country that is relatively new to baseball.
(2) Ichiro plays in 50 more games per year in MLB.
Wow! I guess over a hundred years is "new"! And I didn't know NPB played only 112 games in a season!
Hahaha!!! I thought NPB had 130 game sesons when Ichiro played there!
Also, these guys don't realize the wear and tear of daily NPB prolonged practice routines can be as wearisome as a 162 game schedule.
