Mac Suzuki Named to Mexican Lg. All Star Team
Pitcher Mac Suzuki, of the Tijuana Colts, was selected to the North All Star Team in the Mexican League All Star Team. Suzuki is 1-2 with 9 SVs and a 2.77 ERA in 13 games so far with the Colts [Minor League Stats]. Suzuki pitched 1 scoreless inning, giving up 1 hit, walking 1, and striking out 2 [Scoreboard]. Suzuki was signed to a minor league contract by the A's, but was released at the end of spring training.

Thanks for the update. Good to see that he's doing well. Mexican League, along with the Independent leagues, seem to be the best way to get back into an MLB organization.

Don't kid yourself. It would be easier to return to the Bigs from NPB than from an Indie team or the Mexican League. He is really trying to hang on.

With the history of Suzuki in Japan, it just has not been to Mac's benefit to play in Japan, as he was expelled for fighting in the 11th grade. He's just never been in place in Japan, and when he went back to Japan was always out of place, too. While he was always a long shot for a job in the A's bullpen, it's nice to know that he's doing well in Mexico. And because of the circumstances it would be easier for Mac to return from Mexico to the majors than Japan.

The worst thing that ever happenned to Suzuki was getting a Major League contract from the Mariners. It forced him to be rushed through the minors and hurt his career.
