Lions' Tatsuya Ozeki Eying MLB Move
Seibu Lions outfielder Tatsuya Ozeki is reportedly eying a move to MLB, according to Sponichi Annex [in Japanese]. Ozeki officially became a free agent on November 30th, after rejecting a 25% salary decrease offer. Ozeki stated, "Going to America has always been on my mind. I'd like to grab this chance."

Ozeki could definitely be a So Taguchi type player, but he has a lot of work ahead of him. His days with Seibu are gone with them going to younger players for the past couple years. He might as well try.

Ozeki has less power than Taguchi, but his other numbers are slightly better, plus he is a real good outfielder with speed. Since he strikes out only about 10% of the time, he could fill a two hole role for somebody. He can already do the fundamental things like bunt well and hit behind the runner. He is also a lefthanded bat.

I just hope, like what happened with another former Lions outfielder, Susumu Ohtomo, that his stroke hasn't completely evaporated. He had elbow problems this year and should be fine now, so I think he could bounce back as good as ever.
