Mariners' Owner?

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
Mariners' Owner?
Does anyone know who is the real owner of the Seattle Mariners? Is it Hiroshi Yamauchi, Nintendo of Japan, or Nintendo of America? I'm pretty confused, so if anyone knows, please tell me.

Nintendo of Japan is the real owner of the Mariners. Yamauchi sold his remaining shares to Nintendo of America. Nintendo of America (which is located in Seattle, WA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nintendo Japan. [Nintendo Consolidated Financial Statement - Nintendo Japan - PDF file in English]

Howard Lincoln (a former Nintendo America chairman and former lawyer for Nintendo of America) is the Mariners' chairman and CEO. Lincoln is in charge of day-to-day operations as the owner.

Yamauchi is an important figurehead these days with the Mariners. He no longer owns any shares of the Mariners as he sold them, but is still a very important person with the M's. Without Yamauchi, the M's might very well not be in Seattle. He suggested the M's get Ichiro Suzuki, and there are many, many more things Yamauchi has done for the M's and continues to do for the M's.
