Giants put Shinjo on waivers
Shinjo, whose playing time plummeted after the team acquired outfielder Kenny Lofton at the trade deadline, was placed on waivers Friday for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.

With that swing of his I wonder how he hit 28 homers in Japan.

The Chicago Cubs of the National League have been after Shinjo for some time. They plan to use him as a defensive back-up in the outfield. He will most likely come in during the late innings to replace Moises Alou if the Cubs are winning, so I guess he will not be in that much. Also, if Corey Patterson (center fielder) slumps, then Shinjo and Troy O'Leary will compete for the starting job. Thank you.
