K. Matsui: 10 Game Hitting Streak

K. Matsui: 10 Game Hitting Streak
Kazuo has a 10 game hitting streak going. Today he was 2 for 5, 2 runs, and a triple. But I'm still waiting for him to hit a home run.

Unfortunately, the media picked up on his crucial error in the 9th inning instead of his hit streak.

Too bad his error cost the Mets the game.

No, Looper cost them the game. It's just like some people wanting to blame Jermaine Dye for the Sox loss the other day. No, it's because Hermanson allowed something like 5 hits in a row. Closers are supposed to be lights out. I can't wait until Kaz leaves that awful team and town.

They act like the players' performances are due to some elaborate curse. It's easier to explain than that. It's a combination of many factors that involve the attitudes of the organization and city. Players can't play when they feel like a knife is to their throat as they go to bat, take the mound, or stare at a fly ball. Sure, they're professionals, but they're also human beings.

Kaz probably needs to go back to Japan to find his form. He needs to go back to where people care about him and don't just look at him as that "overpaid import" who couldn't match the hype.

And you can't blame the media for picking up on it.

Please refer to a good read about Matsui's "error" yesterday. [Link - NYFanSites]

Yes, there appears to be some controversy (as always).

Kazuo must stay here. The only reason why his numbers are low is because he's been injured! Now that he's getting his starts look at what he's doing. But he better hit a home run before the season ends.

Kaz is coming on strong and I am really happy for him. He deserves some success. He laid down a nice bunt tonight and extended his hitting streak. His play at second has also improved - diving for balls and being more aggressive. I wouldn't mind him at second in 2006.

There is some speculation that Kaz had Lasix surgery while in Florida. He was squinting earlier this year at bat. He seems to be seeing the ball a lot better now. Any word in Japan on this speculation?
Back to DL?

It's deja vu all over again.

Kaz pulled a hammy and is day-to-day.

Nooooooo! Kazuo can't be injured while he's hot! This better not be true.

Note: The poster said that he's "day to day," not on the DL. That headline is actually my fault as it's no longer dealing with a hitting streak.

The Mets also called up promising second base prospect Anderson, so that will not help Matsui's cause.

How long is Matsui out for?
