Mets Sign Takatsu

Mets Sign Takatsu
The New York Mets sign pitcher Shingo Takatsu to a minor league contract. Takatsu is 1 and 2 with a 5.97 ERA in 31 games this year. He was assigned to AAA Norfolk.

Takatsu should be a good signing by the Mets. He should give them a good arm out of the bullpen.

Man, that's the last team Shingo should've signed with. Even Chicago fans gave him a few boos when he gave up three solo home runs at the beginning of the season. I can't even imagine what the Mets fans will be like if he can't find his form.

Think for a minute now. If he can't find his form, why should he even be in the Show? While he may not be worthy of boos, since when is a player deserving of a professional baseball spot if he puts up lousy stats? How many NPB teams put up with players who cannot find their form, like Kapler?

Maybe you shouldn't worry too much about us Mets fans booing him. Takatsu struck out the side last night in Norfolk. He is projected to be a September call up if he pitches well.

Takatsu, along with Kaz Ishii, will be called up tomorrow when the rosters expand, reports Yahoo! Sports. I have hopes for Takatsu to make a contribution. Ishii, I am not so sure about.

Takatsu, has a good chance to grab a spot next year if he pitches well in September, which I believe he will.

I give the Takatsu dude a break and he gives up a double to Cabrera and 3 runs come in. Great way to make a good impression.

Takatsu is getting some more opportunities. He has 4 scoreless innings after the Cabrera deal. Randolph wants to use him more because of his experience and the big difference between his fastball speed and the change-up.

Willie says Takatsu has the funk.

So far Takatsu has a 0-0 with a 1.80 ERA in 6 games. He's only given up 1 earned run up in 5 innings. Takatsu is pitching his way towards a spot next year on the Mets' bullpen. [MLB Stats]
