Kaz Komeback (sic)

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
Kaz Komeback (sic)
Kazuo is rejoining the Mets tonight in San Diego. Here is a Newsday article that touches on many of the points that have been feverishly batted around on other threads here. I don't agree with any of the reasons sighted in the article for his performance. He is a New York guy with the caveat that that's a double edged sword - hero if you do well, dog if you don't. No way all those experts were wrong either. I acknowledge the other prior posts on reasons and hope that we can just move on.

It will be interesting to see when he actually plays. I wonder if Randolph will get pressure from Omar Minaya (GM) or the Wilpons (owners) to play him. I suppose they could tuck him away. Randolph is on record that Cairo is pretty much the starter at second now. He's playing well and Randolph says he is loyal to guys who get the job done. I'm curious to see, with the starting first baseman hurt, for Cairo to get a start at first. A resurgent Kaz could spark the team, or serve as a showcase to facilitate a trade. This could also justify signing him in the first place. These scenarios can't happen if he sits.

Kazuo has to sense the moment is now. He seems to thrive on those high stakes situations. Easing him in on the road would be less stressful than facing the skeptics at Shea. If he can get a chance to produce during this homestand, he could return to Shea with a lot less pressure and some positive momentum that would shut off the boo birds. If he sits, it's going to be worse for him when he returns.
