Korean Baseball Cards?

Discussion in the KBO News forum
Korean Baseball Cards?
Hi. I would like to know if anyone could help me out. Were there ever any baseball cards made for the Korean Baseball Organization? I'm looking for information on them, like Checklist "Years ande" or a website. The information could be on about them.

Thanks
Frank

Yes, there are KBO cards going back to the first year 1982. I have a few in my collection.

Many cards are team issues; some are inserts in magazines; others were put out by companies such as Lotte.

You will also find postcards and full-size photos.

Also, copyright laws are loosely enforced in Korea so there are many unlicensed cards.

Korea Teleca started issuing actual KBO telephone cards as well as telephone card shaped paper cards in the early 1990s.

I met with Mr. Woo (Teleca Presidant) in 1996 and encouraged him to make "Topps/BBM" style cards. In 1999, Teleca released KBO packs and sets.

I usually found baseball cards in either bookstores or toy stores. You often have to ask or look hard for these cards because they are not always on display.

Another way is to contact the manufacturers directly.
