Lotte Giant Lim Soo-hyuk went into a coma after suffering a heart attack during a game against the LG Twins on April 18, 2000. Lim's family was urged by Lotte officials to file suit against Lotte and LG to force Lotte's senior management to commit for payment for Lim's care.
The Giants told the family that the family was responsible for prolonged medical care.
Lim's family alledges that Lim did not receive adequete medical care due to the lack of medical equipment or personnel at Chamsil Stadium.
According to the suit, Lim didn't get medical treatment for 15 minutes after collasping near second base. The only medical staff, a nurse, responded by loosening Lim's belt rather than attempt any CPR or rush Lim to the hospital.
Lim's family also stresses that the KBO player contract stipulates that the team would pay for injuries sustained during a game.
