西武伊東監督が代打策の失敗を悔やんだ。０－１の６回２死一、二塁、打者細川の場面でリーファーを代打起用。すると相手投手が左腕篠原に代わり、代打の代打に中村を起用したが三ゴロに倒れた。そのまま今季５度目の完封負け。チームは５位転落となり「（スタンドリッジを）代えないと思った。読み間違えた。あそこがポイントだった」と振り返った。
