広島が阪神に大勝し、６年ぶりの勝ち越しを決めた。先発長谷川が６回３安打無失点。打線も栗原の３ランで先制し、５回には１死一、二塁のチャンスをつくると、４連打と犠飛で一挙に５点を奪い試合を決めた。毎回の７奪三振の長谷川は、４月１０日以来の２勝目に「泣くかなと思ったけど、泣かなかったですね。でも泣くほどうれしいです」と感激していた。天敵だった阪神に勝ち越し、ブラウン監督は「今の阪神は投打に安定している。その相手にこういう試合ができて自信になる」と笑顔だった。
