オリックスは序盤のリードを４人の投手陣で守り切った。先発の金子は一回、森本に初球を中前打され「びっくりしたけれど、バックに助けられて気持ちを切り替えられた」。味方の好守もあり、６回３失点で先発転向後３連勝を飾った。２点リードの九回は加藤大が締めた。この日、第１子が誕生したばかりの右腕はこれで８月３日の西武戦から１０試合連続無失点と好調だ。「変な力みがあったけれど、きょうは投げたかった」と満面の笑みだった。
