右ひざ痛から復帰した広島・長谷川は７回３安打１失点と力投したが、援護なく４敗目を喫した。真っすぐは１４０キロ台後半をマークし、変化球の制球も安定していた。「テンポよく七回まで投げられたのは良かった。ただ、相手のグライシンガーがいいだけに、どうしても先制点は取られたくなかった」と二回に宮出に許した本塁打を悔やんだ。８月３１日には長女が生まれ、この日は長男の誕生日だった。「気合が入っていたんで…。勝てなくて悔しいです」と唇をかんだ。
