巨人が「鬼門」札幌ドームでヤクルトからラッキー白星を挙げ、首位の座をキープした。３回には三塁コーチの伊原ヘッドコーチと谷が三塁を回ったところで接触。野球規則７・０９でアウトになる珍プレーのミスで一時は試合の流れが相手に傾いたが、総力戦でカバー。相手暴投で勝ち越し点が転がり込んで、守護神上原浩治投手（３２）が２勝目を挙げた。
