楽天・岩隈は三回までに２点を失ったが、その後は立ち直り４勝目をつかんだ。フォークボールが低めに決まり、八回を投げ終えて交代するまで毎回の９奪三振で無四球。「自分のリズムで投げられた」と充実感に浸った。これで故障から復帰後は４試合で負けなしの３勝。２年ぶりの完投勝利こそならなかったが「しっかり試合がつくれた。次につながるピッチングができた」と自信を深めた。
