楽天・山崎武が２本の適時打を含む４安打で打線を引っ張った。一発こそ出なかったが「体調がよくなって、思い切り振れるようになったのがうれしい」と明るい表情をのぞかせた。本塁打に続き、打点でもリーグトップのローズに８２打点で並んだ。ベテラン同士のタイトル争いに注目が集まるが「最後の１０試合ぐらいでそういう勝負ができればいい。オレの話題はまだ早いよ」と笑い飛ばした。
