日本ハムは珍打＆珍記録で４連勝を飾って首位固めだ。０－２で迎えた８回、金子誠の中前２点適時打で同点とし、なおも１死一、二塁から重盗。西武の捕手細川の三塁送球が、打者森本のバットにかすって左翼線を転々する間に決勝点をもぎ取った。殊勲の？ ひちょりは「実力で完敗、運で完勝！」と大興奮。直前の８回表１死一、二塁から登板した２番手の江尻は１球でカブレラを併殺に打ち取り、球団史上初の１球勝利で６勝目がころがりこんだ。こちらも「すげー！ いいところで投げることができた」と興奮。球団創設以来、通算３７００勝目は痛快なタナボタ白星となった。
