楽天にマー君がいれば阪神には上園がいる。先発投手不足からチャンスを与えられたルーキーが序盤の危機を脱出し、６回４安打無失点、７奪三振の好投で４勝目。大事な後半戦２連勝で、チーム今季最多貯金４に貢献した。上園は「早い回に大量点を取ってもらって楽に投げられました。でもカウントを悪くしてしまったケースも多かったし、リズムも悪かったです」と反省も忘れなかった。
