３発で首位日本ハムを沈めた西武が、熱パに割り込んできた。カブレラ、Ｇ・Ｇ・佐藤に続いた。細川だ。同点の７回１死二塁、武田勝から左翼席に勝ち越し１０号２ランを放った。誰が予想しただろう。４球すべてが変化球。バットを体の前で揺らすバスター打法が、スライダーにタイミングがピタリ合った。「ああいう打法でもホームランが打てる。子供たちにも分かって欲しいですね。楽天の嶋がまね？ パクらないで欲しい」と照れ笑いを浮かべた。
