巨人は「１番谷、４番高橋由」の新打線に、８投手をつぎ込む総力戦も実らない。今季チーム最長５時間１９分（延長戦含む）の阪神との延長１２回死闘の末、３－４で敗れた。これでヤクルトに続き、２カード連続で３タテを食らい、６連敗となった。大量５選手の１・２軍入れ替えを断行して臨んだが、１２回に会田が阪神桜井に決勝３ランを浴びた。中日が敗れ、首位陥落は免れたが、厳しい状況を迎えている。
