ヤクルトに「ポスト古田」を狙う新星が飛び出した。３年目の川本良平捕手（２５）が巨人戦でプロ初先発し、初安打が３ラン＆完封リードで派手にデビューを飾った。リーグ再開後、６戦５発の正捕手・福川が自打球を受けた影響で、急きょこの日昇格したばかり。古田兼任監督の背番号「２７」に続く「２８」を背負った男のイキのいい活躍で、チームは今季初の４連勝。起用した監督自身も大喜びだった。
