張りつめた空気とは無縁のテーマ曲「所沢音頭」に西武の代打高山が後押しされた。「とこ よいとこ どこだよ ところざわ」。４－４、９回裏１死一塁。代わったばかりの楽天渡辺恒の初球をたたいた。ノッている男が真ん中の甘い変化球を逃すはずがない。湿った空気を吹き飛ばすように、打球が左中間席に吸い込まれた。チームに３連勝をもたらす、自身初の代打サヨナラ弾に「うれしいです。これからも熱いバッティングしていきますっ」とお立ち台で叫んだ。
