天国の亡き父へささげる涙の白星ー。巨人高橋尚成投手（３２）が西武戦で先発し７回１失点に抑え、両リーグ一番乗りの１０勝目を挙げた。２１日に父隆男さん（享年６４）を亡くしたばかりだったが、気丈にマウンドへ立った。試合後はお立ち台で号泣した。セ・リーグで６月中に１０勝をマークしたのは９０年の斎藤雅樹（巨人）以来で、球団左腕投手で両リーグ１０勝一番乗りは初の快挙だった。
