「炎の８球」だった。巨人豊田清投手（３６）がソフトバンク戦の８回裏、１死満塁の大ピンチで救援し、代打松中と柴原を連続三振に仕留めて勝利を呼び込んだ。１－１の息詰まる攻防を豊田の熱投でしのいだ巨人は９回谷の決勝打で勝ち越し、最後は上原が締めた。ソフトバンク戦４戦全勝で終えた巨人は交流戦５割以上が確定。今季最多の貯金１４と増やし、２位中日と３ゲーム差に広げた。
