巨人が終盤、豊田清投手（３６）から上原浩治投手（３２）への“守護神”リレーで交流戦初勝利を挙げた。楽天に１点を返されて３点差となった７回１死一、二塁で登板した豊田が、２者連続三振を奪ってピンチを切り抜け、９回を上原が３者凡退で締めた。交流戦２連敗スタートでつまずいた巨人だが、両投手の力投で、嫌な流れと交流戦で失速した昨年の悪夢も払しょくした。
