巨人は“スミ１”負けした前夜と同じような試合展開だった。初回に小笠原が古巣相手に先制のタイムリー。最高の形で先制しながら、２回以降は無得点に抑えられて、痛い逆転負けを喫した。まさかの交流戦連敗スタートで、首位の座から陥落。原監督は「“スミ２”だな、今日は。打線の硬さ？ そういうのは感じないが、結果は出てないわけだから。なんて言っていいか、分からないですね」と苦笑いを浮かべた。
