広島は３年連続の交流戦黒星スタートとなった。２回の１死満塁を逃すなど序盤で点を取れず、昨年に続いて初戦に完封負け。相手先発のカーターを攻め落とせなかった。ブラウン監督は「カーターの出来も良かったが、ウチの打者は修正できなかった。チャンスもあったが生かせなかった」と悔しそうだった。
