離島の星・ロッテのルーキー大嶺祐太投手（１８＝八重山商工）が１軍デビューを果たした。ＮＨＫで全国放送された西武戦（グッドウィル）で初登板初先発。故郷石垣島で見守る家族へ届けとばかりに、自己最速タイの１５１キロを記録するなど、将来性豊かな投球を披露した。５失点でリードを許したまま５回途中に降板したが、打線が一時同点に追い付き、黒星が消える強運ぶりも見せた。「ハンカチ世代」では楽天田中とヤクルト増渕に続いて３人目のデビューだ。
