西武カブレラが逆転サヨナラ２ランでチームの連敗を阻止した。４試合ぶりにスタメン復帰したが、４打席目までは無安打。だが１点を追う９回無死一塁、スライダーをフルスイングした打球は右翼ポールを巻く劇的アーチとなった。「自分で決めてやろうと思って打席に立っていた。フルカウントだったからストライクが来ると思ったし、変化球だろうと思った。読みが当たったよ」。通算２４９号となる劇的アーチを喜んだ。
