中日が猛打爆発でヤクルトに圧勝した。７－６とされた７回、四球をはさんで７連打など９安打を集めて一挙に８点を奪い、試合を決めた。先発野手全員安打など終わってみれば２１安打、１６得点で今季初の完封負けを喫した前日２０日のうっぷんを晴らした。初回の先制３ランなど２本塁打を含む５安打５打点をマークした福留は「（プロでの）５安打５打点は、ちょっと記憶にないですね。若いピッチャーが投げていたので、何とか早い回に打ちたいと思っていた」と笑顔で話していた。
